An expansion and complete
renovation for an existing educational
facility at the Bronx Zoo. City children
are introduced to both wild animals
in their natural habitats, and domestic
animals in a petting-zoo, barnyard
environment. Young zoo-goers can
compare themselves to the animals
as they explore and experience animal
homes, movements, senses and defense,
in hands-on, child-sized exhibits such
as a fiberglass tree slid and turtle shell,
a 5-foot diameter sewer prairie dog
tunnel, over-sized fox ears and
a giant rope spider web.
