MKDS Architects redesigned the
two-level roof tops of a 1940s church
parish house for a Brooklyn Heights
preschool, providing playground
opportunities for both dramatic play
and fun exercise. The lower level,
designed for the 2 and 3 year olds,
offers a house for role-playing, water
play and a small-scale climber.
The upper level, for 4 year olds and
kindergarteners, boasts a 20-foot pirate
ship and climbing equipment for exercise
and developing upper body strength.
An awning-topped rest and snack area
provides sun protection.
