GRACIOUS HOME
A MEWS CARRIAGE HOUSE
Built in a Brooklyn Heights mews,
this brownstone and brick carriage house
sustained significant damage after
an automobile crashed into its façade.
The restoration work has been closely
coordinated with the NYC Landmarks
and Preservation Commission to bring
the building back to its historical beauty.
The damaged structure is now stabilized
and masonry and wood details are
restored. Completing the restoration,
the original 1875 garage bay door,
rediscovered in the cellar, is reinstalled
in the façade.
